Acontece que os representantes máximos deste concelho, os presidentes da Câmara e da Assembleia Municipal, primaram pela sua ausência, assim como os presidentes das Juntas de Freguesia. E o convidado também não compareceu. Salvou a noite a intervenção do Dr. Eurico Henriques, que deu uma lição sobre o nascimento de Almeirim e a importância dos Reis da dinastia de Avis para este concelho.
Fico com a sensação de que estas comemorações, que se iniciaram tardiamente, só se estão a realizar para não se deixar passar a data em branco. As mesmas, perante a importância de que se revestem, deveriam ter sido pensadas e concebidas há muito mais tempo.
